WOODSFIELD – Monroe County Sheriff Charles R. Black Jr. is warning residents that illegal drugs in the form of candy bars may be circulating in the community after two Lewisville residents were arrested Monday.

According to information posted by Black on social media, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was alerted Monday to two illegal packages that were intercepted during a UPS shipment from Marietta, Ohio. An initial investigation by agents with the Southeast Major Crimes Task Force revealed the packages contained $4,100 in cash and what appeared to be psilocybin mushrooms, which came in two different forms. Further investigation by agents in conjunction with detectives from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office led to the packages being traced to the residence of Adam and Sunessa Tollie, 44907 State Route 145, Lewisville.

Investigators later positively identified Adam Tollie using video surveillance and showed him dropping off the intercepted packages at the UPS location. Additionally, evidence collected during the investigation allegedly showed that Adam Tolley mailed packages to various states on multiple occasions. Black’s posts stated that Adam Tolley attempted to do this in a covert manner, using various aliases.

A search warrant was obtained for the Tollie residence. During the search, which was carried out on Monday around 4:40 p.m., detectives and officers are said to have found the location “An abundance of items consistent with trafficking in controlled substances at the Tollie House.” According to Black, the items seized include, among other things, various controlled substances, digital scales and tools used in the processing of these substances.

“In addition, there was also packaging in the house that corresponded to the specific contents of some of the items seized in Marietta.” Black wrote. “Additionally, Adam was unable to legally own firearms due to prior criminal convictions, however a total of three firearms were found at the Tollie home and found in accessible locations.”

Black states that a total of approximately 1.3 pounds of dried psilocybin mushrooms were found at the home, as well as 10.7 pounds of various forms of marijuana/THC, three firearms, and numerous other items related to the trafficking of controlled substances.

Adam R. Tollie, 44, and Sunessa D. Tollie, 43, were arrested Monday and taken to the Monroe County Jail. There was no information available Tuesday about what specific crime the two were accused of when they were arrested.

Since items seized in the case include homemade psilocybin candy bars, Black warns the public to be aware of these items. If an adult or child has come into contact with such items, Black asks that they call the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 740-472-1612.

Black noted that the case has been forwarded to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office for review.
