New photos released of shooter in Leesburg supermarket shooting – WFTV

LEESBURG, Fla. – Leesburg police have released new photos of a suspect they are looking for after a store clerk was shot and killed during a robbery.

Police said a man was dead after being shot during a robbery at a convenience store on Picciola Road at US-441. The robbery occurred around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Leesburg Police have released surveillance video from inside the M&M Food Mart.

It shows a person with a gun entering the store and immediately aiming at the clerk.

Investigators said the employee, 51-year-old Raied Shihadeh, was shot.

A short time later, the armed person is seen running out of the store.

According to police, the suspect was still at large on Friday.

According to police, Shihadeh was flown by helicopter to a hospital where he died.

Adel Abdullah, the owner of the store, told Channel 9 on Friday that Shihadeh lost his life for less than $100.

Abdullah said Shihadeh called him but was busy at the time and called him back shortly after 9 p.m. on Thursday – but the call was not answered.

He later learned that his friend and business partner had been shot in his store just a few minutes earlier.

“My best friend – and more than that – my brother,” Abdullah said. “(The shooter) took him from me. He took him away from his family, his children.”

Abdullah said Shihadeh was speaking to his wife via FaceTime when the video shows the suspect walking through the door and immediately pulling out a gun.

“His wife screamed into the phone and said, ‘I can see you! I can see you!’ That’s what she told me,” he said. “‘I’m calling 911!’ And that’s exactly what happened. So he shot him once – and then there.”

Investigators are not sure whether there was any conversation between Shihadeh and the shooter before the shooting.

The video shows the suspect advancing further into the store and shooting the clerk before falling to the ground.

Then you see the shooter moving behind the counter.

Only 30 seconds after the shots were fired, he ran out with barely his hands full.

“You just want to make an honest living, and that’s what he did,” Abdullah said. “You don’t want to get rich. You just want to feed your family. And that’s what you get.”
