Body found in Saratoga County turns out to be hoax

What was supposed to be a body in the Anthony Kill in the town of Mechanicville on Thursday was a hoax. Mechanicville police were called to the scene when a package initially classified as “suspicious” was found that appeared to be a human corpse.

When police secured the object, wrapped in garbage bags and tape, they discovered that it was a doll in the shape of a human.

On Facebook, the Mechanicville Police Department addressed the situation:

We would like to address recent rumors that a body was found yesterday in the Anthony Kill. These rumors are FALSE. Instead, two suspicious packages were discovered and safely removed that were designed to look like a body. While we certainly understand the cause for concern, we want to assure you that this appears to be a hoax. Please help us by sharing accurate information and staying vigilant. Thank you for your cooperation.
