30 Summer Activities That Will Make You Nostalgic in Buffalo

Summer is full of nostalgia. If you want to bring back happy memories from your childhood or create some with your children, you must check out this list.

Do you remember how cool it was to be on summer vacation when you were a kid? I hope that at the end of your last day of school, you went home to a summer filled with sleepovers at friends’ houses, playing outside, and really cool things with your family. Do you remember how happy these things made you?

We were lucky at my house. I’m not bragging about it, I’m just incredibly grateful to my parents and I’m well aware of how much it took to get this accomplished. When we were kids, our parents took us to all kinds of cool places. We often hosted people from out of town and when they were here we always did our best to “show them the sights” and do all the fun things there were to do in Buffalo. There were late nights by the bonfires catching fireflies and long days swimming all day in the pool.

We would go to Darien Lake, hike the parks, and plan picnics whenever there was someone here to greet us. As a parent myself, I realized how much effort it involved. Not only did you have to have free time, you had to plan for it, and then pay for it.

But my parents managed to get there.

Then when we grew up, we just stopped doing those things. Think about it. How long has it been since you went to Lake Darien and entered the park? When was the last time you visited Niagara Falls as if you were a tourist? If it’s been a long time, maybe it’s time to look at this list and make a plan for this summer.
