News flash • Mayor Brown announces the start of city renovation work

Buffalo, NY – Mayor Byron W. Brown announced today that due to the favorable weather forecast for this Memorial Day holiday weekend, he has ordered the opening of 10 city water features. The water features are scheduled to open on Saturday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. They will be open again on Sunday May 26 and Bank Holiday Monday May 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Brown said, “Our water features are a free, fun and cool destination for our residents, including our children, providing them with a safe and fun play space, while getting them outside to play. exercise, make friends and discover our community. With sunshine and 70-degree temperatures predicted for the upcoming holiday weekend, we have decided to kick off the 2024 water play season this weekend, continuing my administration’s long-standing commitment to supporting programs and parks aimed at further improving the quality of life and health of our residents. .”

After the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the splash pads will be open daily from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. until the end of the school year at the end of June, weather permitting. When the Buffalo Public School year ends on June 25, the splash pads will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day.

• Ralph Wilson Park – at the foot of Porter Avenue.
• Allison Park – Reese Street, adjacent to the Asarese-Matters Community Center
• MLK Jr. Park Basin – Best St. and Fillmore Ave.
• Lanigan Park – South Park Ave., west of Louisiana St.
• Lincoln Park – at the foot of Quincy St.
• Cazenovia Park – behind the park casino
• Houghton Park – foot of Spahn St.
• Schiller Park – Sprenger Street side of the park
• Roosevelt Park – at the foot of Roosevelt Avenue
• Kensington Swimming Pool and Paddling Pool – 665 Kensington Ave

Plus, swimmers can cool off in two of the city’s indoor pools. Cazenovia-Connors, Kait, Harrity Memorial Pool and Lovejoy Pools are open free and offer lap swimming Monday through Friday, as posted, year-round.
