After an accident on the River Cess, an infant has to be amputated

YARPAH TOWN, River Cess – A one-year-old was injured in a car accident that resulted in the amputation of the child’s right hand.

The accident occurred on the morning of May 23 in River Cess. A taxi with six passengers on its way from Cestos to Monrovia lost control and overturned on the driver’s side.

The baby and his mother, Karfie Dukely, were sitting in the passenger seat behind the driver when the accident occurred. Other passengers reported seeing the child’s right hand outside the car as it rolled over.

The injury was so severe that doctors at the River Cess District Hospital had to amputate the injured hand. None of the other passengers suffered major injuries.

According to Amos Tokpaqueh, River Cess Traffic Manager, this is the 14th.th Traffic accidents have been reported in the county since January, but others have not been reported. In conversation with The bush chicken Tokpaqueh of the Yarpah town police station said most of the accidents were due to improved road conditions as drivers had increased their speed significantly.

“During the rainy season, when the roads are not good, there may be fewer accidents,” he said. “But as long as the roads are good, the number of accidents may increase.”

The district has been fortunate that there have been no fatalities so far, but there have been significant injuries.

The 52km stretch of road from Buchanan, Grand Bassa to River Cess has been in fairly good condition this year. In January, the Bea Mountain Mining Company rehabilitated the road from Big Joe Town in Grand Bassa to ITI in River Cess. In addition, the government is rehabilitating the corridor from River Cess to Grand Bassa.
