Yellow weather warning on Saturday and Monday due to storms

ROCHESTER, NY — Two yellow alerts are in effect for Memorial Day weekend. One warning for afternoon thunderstorms is in effect Saturday and one warning for widespread rain showers and storms on Monday that could impact outdoor plans.

There are no changes to the weather forecast for Friday. There will be plenty of sunshine and temperatures between 21 and 25 degrees. It will stay dry until Friday night.

Saturday will also start dry and the early afternoon will also be dry. After 2pm Saturday afternoon we will need to keep an eye on the skies as the chance of storms increases.

The greatest chance of thunderstorms on Saturday has shifted slightly and is now between 5 and 8 p.m. With storms moving in on Saturday afternoon/evening, there is a possibility of gusty winds and locally heavy rain.

We will see showers and thunderstorms until early Saturday evening, but these will clear later. Dry weather is expected to continue on Sunday, as partly cloudy skies are expected with highs of around 27°C. Clouds will increase late Sunday evening and there will also be showers.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are also expected on Memorial Day. No severe weather is expected and no downpours are expected. But be aware of scattered showers and thunderstorms when outdoors.
