25-year-old techie woman robbed after being attacked with bleach powder in a parking lot

A 25-year-old female engineer was reportedly attacked with bleaching powder (etching powder) by an unknown person in Kalyan. The defendant set off with a bag containing a laptop. The incident took place at the Kalyan Railway parking lot around 2.30 pm on Saturday when the victim was getting down from Kalyan Railway Station and was heading towards the station.

According to Kolsewadi police, the victim is an engineer by profession, worked in an IT company based in Mumbai and lived with a family member in Andheri area of ​​Mumbai. The victim was leaving Andheri towards Kalyan’s Nandivli village in Kalyan to meet her relative when an unknown person attacked her with bleaching powder on her face and ran away with the bag.

The resident rushed to the spot as she shouted about the accused’s act. Later, she went to the police station and narrated the entire incident to the police.

A case has been filed under Section 394 (Voluntarily causing hurt in commission of robbery) of the IPC. The victim contacted the police, the police filed a complaint against an unknown person and began investigating the matter.

According to senior police inspector Ashok Kadam, Kolsewadi police station said, “We have registered a case against an unknown person. We have formed a team to trace the accused. We go through the video recordings that were installed in the victim. We will catch him soon.” Kadam further added that prima facie, the accused committed the robbery after he snatched her bag by attacking her with bleaching powder and fled the scene.
