Woman arrested for tying dog to tree in South Windsor

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT (WFSB) – A woman is facing animal cruelty charges for tying a dog to a tree in South Windsor.

Janiya Bradford, 26, of Manchester was charged with animal cruelty and tying a dog to a stationary object.

According to South Windsor police, Bradford was arrested Thursday on an active warrant.

They said the charges against Bradford stem from an April 22 incident in which she was found to have left her dog behind with its collar attached to a large tree branch off a trail at the Neiderwerfer Wildlife Sanctuary on Neiderwerfer Road.

She turned herself in at police headquarters.

She was released on $5,000 bail.

Bradford was scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on June 5.
