CHICAGO — The search continues Monday for the person who shot and killed a 24-year-old father as he walked in a Northwest Side neighborhood.

Flowers and candles today form a growing memorial erected near the corner of Pittsburgh Avenue and Irving Park Road in Dunning, where Zet Rodriguez was shot and killed on her way to work Friday morning.

Family members of the victim declined to speak to WGN-TV but gave permission to share detailed information in a GoFundMe that has since been set up to cover funeral costs.

The deadly shooting triggered multiple surveillance cameras in the neighborhood. A video captured by a shows the person responsible running down Pittsburgh Avenue.

On Saturday, two relevant people were questioned in connection with the fatal shooting but were later released without charge.

Councilman Nicholas Sposato (38th Ward) said he was made aware of new surveillance video that captured images of a vehicle that may have been used in the shooting and said it would be turned over to police.

“It’s troubling for everyone, it’s troubling the whole neighborhood,” Sposato said in a telephone interview with WGN-TV.

The councilman, who has been outspoken about the murder investigation, said he hopes new evidence in the case will help authorities make an arrest.

“I hope it happens sooner rather than later,” Sposato said. “So I just hope something breaks today or tomorrow.”

Residents in the neighborhood told WGN-TV Friday that the deadly shooting left them shocked, disturbed and outraged.

Sposato said he understands the public’s concern about the case.

“People want action. People don’t want something to happen next week, next month, you know, they want quick action, they want hard and fast punishment for this scumbag who basically murdered a little child who was trying to make a life for his family to lead,” said Sposato.
