Eurovision 2024 news: odds, when will the final take place and which countries will take part?

Israel’s Eurovision contestant Eden Golan reacts to the protests in Palestine as he makes his final appearance in the final

Eurovision Song Contest organizers the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) have announced they are investigating an “incident” involving finalist Joost, who represents the Netherlands.

“We are currently investigating an incident reported to us involving the Dutch artist. “He will not be rehearsing until further notice,” said a spokesman.

“We have no further comment at this time and will update in due course.”

The news comes after Joost was heard urging Israeli candidate Eden Golan to answer a question about her participation in her country’s conflict with Hamas during a press conference after the second semi-final on Thursday.

The current order shows that Joost is scheduled to perform directly before Golan on Saturday, May 11th.

More protests are expected to take place after Israel qualified as one of the 26 countries taking part in the final this year.

Ahead of the second semifinal on May 9, thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators took to the streets in Malmö, Sweden, where this year’s competition is being held, to protest against Israel’s participation.

Swedish authorities have increased security measures and are preparing for possible unrest when the final takes place this Saturday.

Who is Windows95Man, Finland’s Eurovision 2024 entrant?

The musician and sought-after model Windows95Man is taking part in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 and is likely to prove himself as one of the most entertaining artists of the evening.

On the Eurovision website he is described as “a sweet and pleasant person, he is a bit of a shy nerd during the day, but when he puts on his uniform, the infamous t-shirt and denim hotpants combo, which no longer exists, is he…“turns into a superhuman!”

Along with his friend Henri Piispanen, Windows95Man will sing “No Rules!”, a bombastic, techno-infused song that sees him emerge from a denim-wrapped egg in the middle of the stage.

Clever staging and camera angles seem to suggest that Windows95Man is naked during the performance, but don’t worry, he’s fully covered.

EBU investigates “incident” involving Dutch delegate Joost

Dutch Eurovision Song Contest performer Joost Klein was stopped from rehearsals by organizers due to an “incident”.

With “Europapa,” a tribute to his late parents, the 26-year-old Dutch rapper and singer qualified for Thursday night’s semifinals at the Malmö Arena, Sweden.

He was only seen briefly during rehearsals on Friday during the flag parade before missing his track.

A statement from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to the PA news agency said: “We are currently investigating an incident reported to us involving the Dutch artist.” He will not be rehearsing until further notice.

“We have no further comment at this time and will update in due course.”

At a press conference on Thursday, Klein told Israeli actor Eden Golan to answer a question about whether she was endangering the safety of other Eurovision contestants.

A journalist asked Golan: “Have you ever thought that by being here you are creating risks and dangers for other participants and the public?”

When Golan was told by the moderator that she didn’t have to answer the question, Klein intervened and said, “Why not?”

Golan said: “I think we are all here for one reason and one reason only and the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) is taking all the safety precautions to make this a safe and consistent place for everyone and that is mine In my opinion this is also the case.” safe for everyone and we wouldn’t be here (if not).”

The Israeli actress also said she was “overwhelmed with emotions” and “super excited to go on stage again and… share my love with everyone.”

When Klein was previously asked if his song could unite people through music, he replied: “I think that’s a good question for the EBU.”

Rishi Sunak criticizes protests and calls for a boycott over Israel’s performance at the Eurovision Song Contest

An estimated 10,000 to 12,000 pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched through Malmo, where the competition is taking place, on Thursday.

More marches are planned for the final itself on Saturday, and there have also been calls for artists to boycott this year’s final because of Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza, which has killed more than 34,000 Palestinians.

No. 10 said: “The Prime Minister believes these protests are wrong.” And so the scenes you saw were outrageous.

“Just as we share the deep concern about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza… when it comes to this Eurovision debate and these protests, we are incredibly attentive to the Israelis and also to the Jewish people around the world who love the Eurovision Song Contest and their viewing feelings This happened after a horrific terrorist attack and while hostages are still being held by Hamas. He calls on people to take this into account when repeating these unfair calls for a boycott.”
