Suspect shot and killed by officer in Raleigh, police say | News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A person was shot by an officer during a domestic violence dispute in Raleigh Friday morning, police said.

Memphis Police Department (MPD) confirmed that officers responded to the call in the 3000 block of Dumbarton Road just after 3 a.m. and found a wounded man inside the home.

Someone armed with a knife attacked the officers before one of the officers opened fire, striking the suspect, MPD said.

Both the suspect and the injured man were taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said. The suspect later died.

MPD did not release the suspect’s gender.

Police said the man’s condition had improved and was stable.

An officer suffered minor injuries at the scene, but police said it was unrelated to the altercation inside the home. MPD did not elaborate.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said it was helping investigate the shooting.
