The family of a victim killed in a hit-and-run accident in Millcreek is asking anyone with information to come forward

MILLCREEK The relatives of a young woman who died in a hit-and-run accident earlier this weekend have spoken out.

Unified Police are quickly trying to find and identify the suspect, going door to door and searching for surveillance footage. Meanwhile, the family of 20-year-old Lindsey VanOrman is mourning their loss and asking the community for help.

“My heart is just broken,” said Justin Nypower, a cousin of VanOrman. “She was sweet, the sweetest person you could imagine.”

Her love for animals

Just before 6 a.m. Saturday, VanOrman was stopped at 2300 E. 3051 South to help an injured cat.

“It doesn’t surprise me at all that she loves animals,” Nypower said.

Then the unthinkable happened. VanOrman was hit by a silver or white truck with a luggage rack on the back.

“Based on the footage, you can see that the individual stopped and then sped away shortly thereafter,” said Sergeant Aymee Race of the Unified Police Department.

On Sunday, police released new footage in hopes of locating the fleeing driver. The footage shows the suspect’s vehicle driving north from the crime scene to Fisher Lane and then heading west.
