Jamestown man charged after brawl and attack on police vehicle | News, Sports, Jobs

Nicholas Brown

Nicholas C. Brown, 34, of Jamestown, faced numerous charges after he rammed two police vehicles during a chase and later got into an altercation with officers.

At 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, Jamestown Police officers observed a vehicle commit numerous traffic violations and then speed away from officers who observed the violations. Officers then attempted to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to comply. The pursuit lasted an extended period of time and the driver, later identified as Brown, nearly collided with several officers. The pursuit ended when Brown collided head-on with a marked New York State Trooper vehicle, an unrelated parked vehicle, and then a marked Jamestown Police cruiser.

Brown then actively fought back against police to resist arrest. After a brief struggle, Brown was taken into custody. Brown was charged with three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree unlawful fleeing from police in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and second-degree criminal damage to property.

Brown was held in the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment and was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail due to his criminal history.
