Deadly shooting in East Orange triggers investigation by Essex District Attorney

A man was killed in East Orange on Wednesday night, prompting the Essex County District Attorney’s Office to launch an investigation.

East Orange police responded to reports of shots fired on South Munn Avenue last night.

When officers arrived, they found an unidentified man with gunshot wounds.

Officials with the Essex County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that the man was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.

The shooter fled the scene and is still at large.

The identity of the victim is being kept secret by county authorities until further notice. No other injuries were reported in the incident.

The Essex County District Attorney’s Office has taken over the investigation into the shooting.
