Bodycam video shows arrest of man accused of raping rollerblader in Miami Beach

MIAMI BEACH, Florida. – Police released body camera footage Tuesday showing the arrest of a man accused of raping a woman while rollerblading in Miami Beach last week.

According to investigators, surveillance video shows 31-year-old Keith Hill Jr. being arrested by Hollywood police on the beach just days after the alleged attack last Tuesday.

Police confirmed that Hill gave officers a false name when he was arrested.

“We immediately notified Miami Beach and informed them that we had the suspect in custody,” said Christian Lata, a spokesman for the Hollywood Police Department.

According to investigators, Hill attacked the victim around 1 a.m. and dragged her into the bushes off the beach path.

Investigators said the attack was captured on video and police used the still images to send a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) alert to surrounding authorities.

Authorities said Sunny Isles police recognized Hill from an earlier encounter at a local park the day before the alleged attack, and Hollywood officers later spotted him on the beach.

Hill, a registered sex offender who recently moved from Illinois, is being held in the Broward County Jail and is scheduled to be extradited to a Miami-Dade County jail. As of Tuesday, he refused to appear in bond court.

The Illinois state public sex offender database shows that Hill, of Freeport, also known as Eric Lavaly, was convicted in Stephenson County nearly a decade ago and that he “failed to maintain accurate registration records.”

According to his profile, Hill was 21 years old when he was convicted of two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a victim between the ages of 13 and 16. He was also convicted of violating the sex offender registry.

He is expected to face further charges for his latest crime.
