F1 commissioners report wrong decision in Verstappen investigation

The F1 stewards acted wrongly when they did not impose a penalty on Max Verstappen for his collision with Lewis Hamilton at the Hungarian Grand Prix. RacingNews365 Reader.

On lap 63 of 70 at the Hungaroring, Verstappen attempted to out-brake Hamilton and take third place, having previously attempted to ‘save’ himself after Red Bull’s strategy had ultimately dropped him to fifth place.

However, he misjudged his braking, the tires locked and collided with Hamilton’s left front, causing the RB20 to be thrown into the air.

The incident was investigated for causing a collision, but race control decided not to take any further action and Verstappen finished fifth.

In their verdict, the race stewards stated that “the driver of car 44 (Hamilton) could have done more to avoid the collision.”

After the decision RacingNews365 simply asked readers whether the race management had acted correctly by not penalizing the Dutchman.

The verdict was clear, the results are listed below.
