One dead in Chicago suburban house fire

One person died after a house fire in north suburban Buffalo Grove Monday morning.

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to the 600 block of Woodhollow Lane around 10:22 a.m. for a report of a fire in the garage attached to a home, authorities said.

Firefighters discovered heavy flames in the garage that were spreading to the two-story home. They learned that one occupant was missing. They found the person in the building dead at the scene.

Authorities did not identify the person because the Lake County coroner’s office was waiting to examine the body.

Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department and the Illinois State Fire Marshal are investigating the fire.
