Tamil Nadu teenager arrested for sexually assaulting and blackmailing college mates

COIMBATORE: A 22-year-old youth was arrested on Monday for allegedly sexually harassing and blackmailing two girls from his college in Coimbatore. The accused was identified as Sri Dharsan (22) of Nagercoil, a resident of Coimbatore. According to sources, Dharsan was pursuing a Masters in English Literature from a private college in the district and was in a relationship with a 21-year-old girl from his class and a 19-year-old third-year student.

However, he later allegedly sexually harassed and abused them in two separate incidents. Both girls were unaware that Dharsan was on a double date with them.

A few days ago, Dharsan allegedly threatened and blackmailed the two girls using the photographs he had. The duo then filed a complaint with Kuniyamuthur police. Following this, two separate cases were registered against him under sections 75, 79, 296(b), 351(2) BNS, 4 of TNPHW Act (u/s 354(a), 294(b), 506(2), 509, IPC & 4 of TNPHW Act). He was arrested on Monday and remanded in custody. Police also seized Dharsan’s phone.
