Woman in her 30s dies after attack by lap dog in Coventry

A woman in her thirties has died in Coventry after being attacked by a dog, West Midlands Police said.

Officers were called to a property on Wexford Road after a dog attack was reported at around 12:15pm today.

Police said the woman was found on site by West Midlands emergency services, “but despite all efforts, she unfortunately died a short time later.”

“The woman’s family has been informed and our thoughts are with them following today’s tragedy,” police added.

The dog was confiscated and the death was reported to the coroner for further investigation.

The police assume that this is not a banned breed of dog.

“Emergency medical personnel performed advanced life support measures, but tragically, despite all efforts, the woman could not be saved and her death was pronounced at the scene a short time later.”

They also said that no one else was injured in the incident.
