Mobile internet and bulk SMS services suspended in Nuh for 24 hours ahead of VHP’s Jalabhishek Yatra

New Delhi: Ahead of the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the Haryana government on July 21 (Sunday) ordered suspension of mobile internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh district for a period of 24 hours.

As per the orders of Haryana Deputy Home Minister Anurag Rastogi, internet services in the district will remain suspended from 6:00 pm on July 21 (Sunday) to 6:00 pm on July 22 (Monday), the Press Trust of India.

“…there is an apprehension that tension, nuisance, riot, damage to public and private property and disturbance of public peace and tranquillity in Nuh district may arise…” said the order, issued on the basis of feedback from Deputy DGP-CID, Haryana, and a Deputy Commissioner.

Nuh police said strict security arrangements had been made to ensure the peaceful conduct of the yatra.

Earlier this month, an FIR was filed against a lawyer in Nuh over a post he made on social media ahead of the Jalabhishek Yatra.

In July last year, violence had broken out during the Hindutva procession of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal in Nuh. In the evening, fresh incidents of violence were reported from Gurugram and Sohna.
