Davenport child allegedly killed at mother’s hands | Highlands News-Sun

After three years, Boyer came to America, where he lived with his adopted brother (unnamed) and adoptive father Rene and of course Patricia. The teen attended Loughman Oaks Elementary School in Davenport.

AdventHealth Orlando Hospital notified the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) of Bryan’s death and the circumstances surrounding it. Investigators were told that Patricia and her 16-year-old son arrived at the hospital with Bryan, but the child was flown to a hospital in Orlando, where he would later die.

On May 2, a PCSO detective responded to the home in the 400 block of Majesty Drive in response to the suspicious death of a young boy. He met the parents and Patricia told him that Bryan had been having flu-like symptoms for about a week and was taking over-the-counter medication.

Patricia also said that Bryan went to school on May 1 and she later picked him up at the bus stop. According to the arrest report, Bryan allegedly told his mother he was “weak and tired.” According to Patricia, she told Bryan to rest.

Bryan’s brother woke him up around 8 p.m. The mother tried to feed him and Bryan began shaking, vomiting and becoming lethargic. She told investigators that she had older brother Bryan carried to the car to take him to the hospital. She later said Bryan’s brother dropped him on the floor.

Patricia denied physically disciplining Bryan. Rene was at work during the incident and said Patricia was the main disciplinarian. However, when they interviewed the 16-year-old, the story was very different.

The older boy said that while he was in Haiti, Patricia beat them both with belts and a “homemade striking device,” the report said. He told police that Patricia told him to lie and say he dropped Bryan to make up for his injuries.

Officers searching the family home found blood on the door to a bedroom and on the bathroom carpet. Patricia blamed the little one’s bloody nose. There were also freshly plastered holes in the walls. The older boy was in the garage during the incident but said the holes were not there before the incident.

In an interview with school staff who visited Bryan, they said the boy did not appear to be ill.

The autopsy revealed scars on Bryan’s back, and he had both old and new scars. He also suffered a “deep laceration” to his liver from blunt force trauma. Additionally, the medical examiner said the injuries were “consistent with ongoing abuse,” the arrest report states.

“If you’re looking for something positive, it’s that he’s now in the arms of God and he’s not getting beaten anymore,” Judd said in the press conference. “He will no longer be tied up and thrown into the swimming pool. That he is now our Christian faith (puts his hand on his chest), that he lives life where he is surrounded by love and things are great, as if he is surrounded by love and great for him here on earth should be.”

Included in the Polk County Sheriff’s Office release package were videos found on Patricia’s phone. The short clip showed Patricia Saintizaire allegedly punching Bryan, who was lying on his stomach, unresponsive. In another disturbing video, Bryan is thrown into a pool with his hands tied behind his back, allegedly by Saintizaire, who walks away.

It is currently unknown how the videos ended up on Saintizaire’s phone. The PCSO spokesperson said it is believed the short clips came from the family’s surveillance cameras and were uploaded to the phone.
