The real motorcycle accident that Peter Reckell survived on the way to Days of our Lives

Peter Reckell, or rather his Days of our lives Alter ego Bo Brady is the man to look at when you need a motorcycle-riding hero to blow your mind. Luckily, the actor who plays Bo is an accomplished two-wheeler. Soap Hub tells the story of a motorcycle adventure with fan favorite DAYS.

Last week, one day, July 12, was National Motorcycle, prompting X, a former Twitter user, to post: “There’s no one who looks better on a motorcycle than Bo Brady, except maybe Hope Brady. Bo was born to ride. It’s time to wake up our hero so he and Fancy Face can go for another ride.”

“Actors often have to learn certain skills to play roles. I’ve always wondered if Peter had to learn to ride a motorcycle for the role or if he knew how to ride and that’s why Bo rode,” asked @cputrbug. To which @chargebat replied: “Good question… maybe Peter can answer it for us.”

Reckell, who is active on social media, obliged. “The first bike in those early shows was my bike,” he said. “I got hit by a truck one morning as I was bringing my Harley Davidson to work, which was to be used in the show that day. The bike ended up under the truck, I only got bruised!!”

Of course, Reckell’s most famous motorcycle ride may not have been on his Harley. It was when Bo, shall we say, “borrowed” a cop’s motorcycle to race to the church and stop Hope (Kristian Alfonso) from marrying Larry Welch (Andrew Masset).

Bo kidnapped Hope, still wearing her wedding dress, on the lawman’s motorcycle while the two argued on the run. The two later cleared things up and Bo explained that he only pretended to push Hope away so he could help his brother Roman. The following year, Hope walked down the aisle again – only this time Bo was her groom.
