Wiz Khalifa has spoken out after he was arrested in Romania on Sunday, July 14, for illegal drug possession.

A Romanian anti-organized crime organization, DIICOT, claimed that Khalifa, 36, whose real name is Cameron Thomaswas performing at the “Beach, Please!” festival in Costinesti, a summer resort in Romania, when he illegally smoked cannabis on stage.

The organization also claimed to have found the rapper in possession of cannabis in the early hours of Sunday morning, as reported Page Six.

Khalifa commented on the situation on social media late Sunday evening.

“Last night’s show was incredible. I didn’t mean to disrespect Romania by smoking on stage,” Khalifa wrote about X. “They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But next time without the giant joint.”

Per Page SixDIICOT stated in a press release on Sunday: “The prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Constanța Territorial Service have ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against a defendant (US citizen) who is being investigated for the crime of illegal possession of dangerous drugs.”

The press release stated that the “See You Again” musician was found to be in possession of “over 18 grams of cannabis,” which is considered a “risk drug” in Romania. He also “consumed another amount of cannabis (on stage) in the form of a homemade cigarette.”

According to the French news agency Agence France Presse (AFP) Barron’sPossession of a “risk drug” can be punished with up to ten years in prison.

AFP also reported that Khalifa was taken away for questioning by local authorities on Sunday but released shortly afterwards.

The news comes after Khalifa revealed earlier this year that he showed up to parent-teacher meetings for his 11-year-old son, Sebastian, “stoned.”

“I come in stoned. They expect it,” the rapper joked on the Jan. 10 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “They know what’s going on. It’s not like back in the day when you were considered a bad parent if you smoked weed. I’m pretty sure my son smells like weed. I don’t know because I can’t smell it, but I’m pretty sure he smells like weed.”

Khalifa shares his son, nicknamed “Bash,” with his ex-wife Amber Rose.

His latest arrest is not the first. Khalifa was arrested in 2010 and held overnight on drug charges in North Carolina after giving a concert at East Carolina University in Greenville, according to CBS News.

At that time, police searched the musician’s tour bus during his performance and found marijuana.
