In the decades since, the park has evolved enormously. After some very difficult years in the 1970s and 1980s, the park has experienced a wonderful renaissance, under the leadership of its stewards, the Piedmont Park Conservancy.

“It’s exciting. We’re celebrating our 35th anniversary right now,” said Marshal Eagle, the Conservancy’s chief operating officer.

Eagle shared some of the current projects with Channel 2 Action News as the organization guides Piedmont Park into the next phase of its future.

“We have about $2.5 million in deferred maintenance and other infrastructure and facility projects that are ongoing,” Eagle said. “Some of that is landscaping improvements to our entrances to the park.”

Atlantans and visitors from all walks of life, as well as their pets, can find something to suit them among these 200 acres, which is why the park should be admired and respected.
