In a shocking incident, an army veteran was severely beaten up by a miscreant in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh. The former soldier was allegedly hit with shoes by a man who also threatened to kill him.

A case has now been registered against the accused, Pankaj Mishra, based on a complaint filed by the victim. Police said they have launched an investigation into the incident. The incident took place near a petrol pump adjacent to Munshiganj police station in Amethi, where a violent assailant allegedly cornered the army veteran and hit him with his shoes, causing serious injuries to the victim.

According to reports, a quarrel broke out between the two when they attended a function in a nearby village where they argued over an issue. On the day of the quarrel, Mishra saw the soldier arriving and started a brawl with the former soldier.

Mishra alleged that the ex-soldier started abusing him and provoked him into a fight at the petrol pump. Mayank Dwivedi, CO of Gauriganj Circle, said appropriate action would be taken during the course of investigation. Action has already been taken against the accused and a chargesheet has been filed based on the victim’s complaint.
