JCPD: Man arrested after hitting child, kicking woman in neck | WJHL

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) has arrested a man after he allegedly beat a child and strangled a woman by stepping on her neck.

According to a JCPD press release, Aaron Thomas, 29, of Johnson City, was charged with aggravated assault following the incident, which occurred shortly after 1 a.m. on June 29 at the Park n’ Stay Inn, 3406 West Market Street.


The press release states that officers were called to the motel for a domestic dispute, where they found Thomas allegedly strangling a woman by “putting his foot on her neck” and hitting her child.

The JCPD said the woman and child were able to get to safety.

Thomas was taken to the Washington County Detention Center. The JCPD did not announce bail.
