Amtrak service from New York City to Boston cancelled for today

Amtrak service between New York and Boston was suspended for the rest of the day

NEW YORK – Amtrak service between New York and Boston has been suspended for the rest of the day, the railroad company said Saturday afternoon.

The service interruption was due to a faulty circuit breaker that caused a power outage on all tracks between Penn Station in New York and Union Station in New Haven, Connecticut.

Amtrak said it would provide an update on the suspension in a message posted at 3:30 p.m. on its website.

Customers with reservations for the affected trains would generally be rebooked onto trains with a comparable departure time or onto another day, the railway company said.

Amtrak is also waiving additional fees for customers who wish to change their reservations.
