Two cats die, four people injured in fire at Interstate Inn in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) – Chesterfield County Fire and Rescue and Colonial Heights Fire and Rescue responded to a report of fire at the Interstate Inn at 2200 Indian Hill Road.

According to the Chesterfield County Fire and Emergency Services, fire units responded to a report of a fire at the Interstate Inn on Indian Hill Road at 11:39 p.m. on Friday, July 5.


The first fire crew on the scene noticed a heavy fire coming from a room on the second floor. In less than 20 minutes, the fire was under control.

Four people, including a firefighter and a police officer, were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Two cats died at the scene, according to Chesterfield County Fire and EMS.

The motel management helps to relocate displaced guests to other rooms.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
