De Soto man killed in crash on I-55 near Butler Hill Road.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A man from De Soto, Missouri, died in a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 55 in southern St. Louis County Wednesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, the accident occurred just after 8:50 a.m. south of Butler Hill Road.

Highway Patrol said the driver of a 2016 International tractor-trailer noticed traffic in front of him and attempted to slow down. The front end of a 2000 Ford F-450 struck the rear of the tractor-trailer’s towed unit. Debris from the F-450 struck a 2014 Honda CRV.

The drivers of the tractor-trailer and the CRV were uninjured.

The driver of the F-450, Jimmy-Jack Johnston, was pronounced dead shortly after 9:45 a.m. at Mercy Hospital South. Johnston was 39 years old.
