2018 soccer world champion Paul Pogba has been suspended from the sport in 2023 after testing positive for testosterone supplements, according to a report by ESPNThe punishment, which can result in a ban of up to four years, has led to a significantly changed dynamic at Juventus, with Paul’s teammate Kylian Mbappe telling the press that he has had to significantly change his playing style in Paul’s absence.

Now, in July 2024, Paul has made it clear that he is not going anywhere despite his temporary suspension and rumors of his retirement. In an interview with Sky Italytranslated by ESPNThe football star said: “Pogba is not finished yet. Pogba is here and until you hear me say I’m finished, don’t worry.”

What happened to Paul Pogba? He wants to challenge his ban in court.

In September 2023, Paul tested positive for testosterone, a banned substance, the Italian Anti-Doping Agency announced and reported ESPNIn a statement, the agency said: “By accepting the case proposed by the National Anti-Doping Prosecutor’s Office, it has ordered the provisional suspension of the athlete Paul Labile Pogba.”

However, it is worth noting that Paul himself denied these allegations: “I was informed today of the decision of the Tribunale Nazionale Anti-Doping and I believe that the verdict is wrong.”

“I am saddened, shocked and deeply disappointed that everything I have built in my career as a professional athlete has been taken away from me,” he continued. “As a professional athlete, I would never do anything to enhance my performance by taking banned substances, and I have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and fans of the teams I have played for or against.”

Paul is currently awaiting a hearing before the Court of Arbitration for Sport, where he hopes to have his ban reduced to two years. In his above-mentioned interview with Sky ItalyPaul assured his fans that he would return to the sport despite rumors of his retirement.

“I want to fight against these things that are unfair to me. An interview came out, I don’t know if you saw it in full, they put something in it that… I hadn’t finished speaking,” he said, claiming a publication had taken his statement out of context. “The latest news is that I’m still a (Juventus) player; I have the contract but I haven’t had the chance to speak to the director and the coach… there’s silence. I think they’re waiting for the outcome of the appeal but you have to ask them.”

Whatever the case, it seems that Paul’s fans are eager to see him back on the field.
