Simon Pegg says he would be “furious” if “Shaun of the Dead” was remade

Twenty years later Shaun of the DeadSimon Pegg explains why he and director Edgar Wright would not participate in a remake or reboot.

“I mean, Universal (Pictures) owns it. If they decide to reboot it, they can if they want, I guess. Although Edgar and I would be outraged,” said the 54-year-old actor The Hollywood Reporterwhile talking about the film’s legacy and his current role The young.

“The thought of someone just stealing the title… I was always annoyed by Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead Remake – it’s a great movie. It’s really exciting. But I hated the fact that they Dawn of the Deadbecause that was George (Romero’s) film,” he added.

“You could have called it Deadlythat was a great line that one of the actors used in the film, and it would have been a great film regardless. But if you use a title just because people know it, it’s so disrespectful to the original.”

Pegg also noted that he did not see how a sequel to Shaun of the Dead would also work.

“If you saw Shaun again, if the zombies came back, there would simply be no story to tell. We would have to recreate everything we saw in Shaun of the Deadthe journey that Shaun goes on and completes,” he told the outlet. “He becomes a new person, but we would then have to strip that back down to give him a new story arc. Why?”
