These streets will be closed during Shell Freedom Over Texas

HOUSTON – Don’t celebrate the 4th of July by getting stuck in traffic or looking for a parking spot!

Before you hit the road for your Independence Day celebrations, make sure you know which streets will be closed during the Shell Freedom Over Texas celebrations.

Here is a list of dates and times when street closures will be in effect during Shell Freedom Over Texas through Thursday, July 4th from 4pm to 10pm.

BUFFALO BAYOU PARK AND ELEANOR TINSLEY PARK TRAIL CLOSURE

FROM SUNDAY JUNE 30 TO FRIDAY JULY 5

Hiking and biking trails along Allen Parkway and Buffalo Bayou Park between Bagby and Taft will be closed to walkers, runners and cyclists. They are encouraged to use nearby trails.

• The hiking and biking trail on the north shore of Buffalo Bayou Park, next to the Lee and Joe Jamail Skate Park, from Sabine Bridge to east of the Mithoff Family Grove (Linnea Glatt and Francis Thompson’s “Unfinished Passage” aka The French House) will be closed to walkers, runners and cyclists. They are encouraged to use nearby trails.

STREETS CLOSED FOR EVENTS

TUESDAY, JULY 2, 7:00 AM – FRIDAY, JULY 5, 5:00 AM

• Allen Parkway North and South exit ramps from I-45 (South and Northbound Freeways)

• Allen Parkway towards Bagby • Allen Parkway towards Taft

• (No access to I-45 S/Heiner/Crosby until 5:00 PM FRIDAY, JULY 5)

• Sabine Street at Memorial Drive and the bridge

• Sabine Street in Bridge, blocking traffic heading south toward Allen Parkway

• Gillette Street (mid-block) near the Federal Building (after the apartment entrance)

• Walker & Sabine access to Allen Parkway and Sabine Street is blocked.

• I-45 Northbound Ramp and McKinney Loop Remain Open

• Crosby Street at W. Dallas Street

• Heiner Street at W. Dallas Street

• Heiner Street will remain closed from Allen Parkway to W. Dallas St. until 5:00 p.m. on 7/5/2024

• Bagby heading north to Dallas

• Lamar between Smith and Bagby

• Brazos Street in Dallas

• Sawyer Street at Washington Avenue • Allen Parkway towards Waugh

• Allen Parkway Service Road at Montrose Boulevard (resident access at all times)

• Memorial Drive towards Waugh Drive

• Memorial Drive towards Bagby

THURSDAY, JULY 4, 9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. (SHELL Fireworks)

• Sabine Street between Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive

***The Buffalo Bayou Waterway will be closed on THURSDAY, JULY 4, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM between the Capitol Street Bridge and Montrose Boulevard/Studemont Street.
