Police officer who killed Tamir Rice leaves new job in West Virginia – KION546

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A former Cleveland police officer who shot and killed 12-year-old Tamir Rice in 2014 has resigned from a West Virginia police department. It is the third time in six years that Timothy Loehmann has left a small department amid fierce backlash shortly after being hired. Officials in White Sulphur Springs say Loehmann resigned as an officer on probation Monday afternoon. Tamir’s death sparked nationwide protests against police killings of Black people. The city of Cleveland eventually fired Loehmann. In 2018, he landed a part-time job at a police department in southeastern Ohio but withdrew his application. In 2022, he left a police job in north-central Pennsylvania without working a single shift.
