Discovery of Eno Park’s body in Durham

DURHAM, NC (WNCN) — A dead person was found underwater near a Durham park Saturday night, police said.

The discovery was reported as a “dead person” shortly before 8:30 p.m. in the 5100 block of N. Roxboro St., according to a brief statement from Durham police.

“A 911 caller reported finding the body of a male victim underwater,” the police statement said.

The West Point at Eno Park is located in the 5100 block of N. Roxboro Street near Seven Oaks Road.

The victim’s death was confirmed at the crime scene, police said.

“The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation and no further details are available at this time,” officials said in the press release.

West Point on the Eno, a Durham city park, is a 404-acre natural and historic park along a 2-mile stretch of the scenic Eno River at 5101 North Roxboro Street, 6 miles north of downtown Durham.
