Motorcyclist dead after collision near Laton: CHP | YourCentralValley.com

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A motorcyclist is dead and the driver of a vehicle was arrested after a crash outside Laton, the California Highway Patrol said.

On Friday evening around 9:18 p.m., the CHP office was notified of a collision in the area of ​​East Street and Mt. Whitney Avenue.


Officers said that when they arrived, they found one of the people involved, a man who was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle, lying on the ground. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The other vehicle, a Ford pickup truck, and its male driver were still on site when they arrived.

According to the CHP, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Mt. Whitney Avenue and approached the intersection when the driver of the Ford either failed to stop or failed to yield while traveling northbound on East Street.

Officials believe that the truck driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
