It is noted that the broadcaster took a similar step in the same month a year ago when a lockdown in the Metro Manila region was first announced in the Philippines following the pandemic, before returning to its usual live broadcast in June.

The Philippine Department of Health recently announced that there were 7,999 new cases on Saturday, March 20, the highest daily number since the pandemic began.
