Houston man guilty of giving illegal buttock injections gets 5 years in prison

HOUSTON – A man accused of illegally giving buttock injections to at least three women has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Last April, Dustin Moore, 43, was charged with one count of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and three counts of violating the Medical Practice Act.

The charges stem from allegations that Moore used syringes to inject a clear, unlabeled substance into women, causing at least one methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, MRSA is a difficult-to-treat cause of staph infection due to resistance to some antibiotics.

Moore pleaded guilty to one count of medical procedure causing serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
