Connecticut man charged with federal child pornography

A Connecticut man has been arrested on federal child pornography charges, police said. The investigation involved both city police and the FBI’s Crimes Against Children and Human Trafficking Task Force.

Marvyn Escobar, 26, of Woodland Street in Hartford, is charged with distributing obscene material to a minor and receiving child pornography, police said.

Police said the Hartford Police Department’s Special Investigations Division, in conjunction with the FBI’s Crimes Against Children/Human Trafficking Task Force, launched an investigation into Escobar in 2023 for alleged offenses related to child pornography.

“During the course of the investigation, there was probable cause to charge Escobar with the listed federal offenses,” police said. A federal judge approved an arrest warrant and on June 25, Special Investigations Unit detectives and Task Force agents took Escobar into custody without incident, police said. Escobar was investigated, charged and remains in federal custody, police said.
