State legislator arrested in Lansing is confident he will be acquitted

(WXMI) — A Michigan lawmaker who was taken into custody last week expressed confidence he will be acquitted.

Rep. Neil Friske, who represents several northern Michigan districts, was arrested in Lansing on Thursday after reports of gunfire in the city. Friske owns a condo in the city.

Details of the incident are limited, but police have filed three charges against the Republican congressman.

Friske issued a statement saying his arrest was based on false allegations, adding that he would not “succumb to extreme pressure from the political right.”
