Public notice for Richland Community College campus – Decatur Tribune

Decatur, IL – Richland Community College would like to inform the public and campus community of an upcoming emergency drill scheduled for Friday, June 28th.

The college will host a radiological response demonstration for the Illinois Emergency Management Agency of the Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS). In this exercise, the Radiological Response Group (RRG) will run through a scenario of an incident at a nuclear power plant. The demonstration will also involve police (security), fire department (disinfecting vehicles), and the county emergency management agency.

Starting at 9:30 a.m., the group will work in the area outside the Five Thirty Seven Bistro, part of the parking lot, the auditorium, the green room and the lounges of the Shilling Community Education Center.

The college wants to reassure the public that this is just a drill and there is no cause for alarm if they see emergency vehicles or personnel in protective gear. Richland Community College is closed on Fridays during the summer, so there are no students on campus at this time.
