IID issues “Conserve Alert” to prevent power outages

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) – The Imperial Irrigation District is issuing a shelter in place advisory effective Monday, June 25 through Tuesday, July 2.

The warning is intended to inform consumers to relieve the strain on the energy grid in order to avoid power outages.

According to IID, you can do the following to save electricity:

• Set your air conditioning to 78 degrees or higher
• Give large appliances a break between 4 and 9 p.m.
• Turn off unnecessary lights
• Use a ceiling fan
• Prevent the sun from overheating your home
