Police make arrest after standoff in South Jackson

Jackson police say they have made an arrest following a standoff in South Jackson. According to Capt. William Kendrick, police were attempting to arrest a suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier in the day at the Village Apartments on Raymond Road. Police said the victim in this shooting is in critical condition. During the investigation, Kendrick said they led them to a home on Cooper Road. He said they found the suspect’s vehicle there. Captain Kendrick said after negotiations they were able to arrest the suspect at a home on Treehaven Drive. The suspect’s vehicle was towed from the home on Cooper Road. Police have not released the name of the person arrested on charges of aggravated assault. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
