1 injured in shooting in Anderson, police arrest 17-year-old

ANDERSON, Indiana – A 17-year-old is in police custody after allegedly being involved in a shooting that left another man injured in Anderson Monday afternoon.

Officers with the Anderson Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Walnut Street on Monday after receiving reports that a person had been shot in the area. Upon arrival, officers found a 21-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds, according to APD.


According to APD, the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his “non-life-threatening injuries.”

APD said preliminary information indicated the shooting was preceded by a “verbal dispute” between the suspect and the victim. The 17-year-old was found shortly after officers arrived at the scene and was arrested without further incident.

The shooting remains under investigation.
