Navi Mumbai police inspector rapes married police officer for two years

A 32-year-old sub-inspector was arrested for raping and molesting a married policewoman in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.

On Sunday, June 23, an official said that the crime took place between 2020 and July 2022 in the Sanpada area. He said the accused befriended the 26-year-old victim. He then raped her multiple times in a flat in Sanpada on the pretext of marrying her. Both are working with the Mumbai Police.

The police stated that the accused had taken Rs 1.9 million from the victim from time to time but returned only Rs 1.46 million.

An officer from Sanpada police station said that the accused sub-inspector also stalked the woman. The victim was also asked to leave her husband and threatened to kill her if she did not do so.

Based on the complaint filed by the woman at the Pant Nagar police station in Mumbai, a ‘Zero FIR’ has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the official said.

The entire case has been handed over to Sanpada police. He said that a case was also registered against the accused on Saturday, June 22. ‘Zero FIR’ can be filed at any police station. Irrespective of whether the incident took place within the limits of that police station or not, the case will be classified at the concerned police station.
