Girl found dead in Sandy Springs apartment complex pool

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — A missing 5-year-old girl was found dead in a swimming pool Friday morning, according to Sandy Springs Police.

Officers said they went to an apartment complex just after 8:40 am to help search for a missing girl who has special needs.

Police conducted a brief search and found the child in the swimming pool of an apartment complex, officers said.

“Without hesitation, a Sandy Springs police officer jumped into the swimming pool and retrieved the child. Upon exiting the pool, first responders began life-saving measures on the child, and she was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta where she was declared deceased,” the news release said.

Sandy Springs Police did not release the 5-year-old’s name or the name of the apartment complex. However, it added that detectives are still investigating what happened.
