Man sentenced after 2023 car crash that killed two children

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Terrance Jujuan Bordeaux, the man accused in a fatal April 5, 2023 car crash that killed two children, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder on June 10, 2024.

According to the accident report, Bordeaux was traveling on SR 1700, crossed the center line and overcorrected, veered off the shoulder, rolled over and came to rest in a ditch. 8-year-old Terrance Bordeaux Jr. and 10-month-old Joseth Hyatt died in the crash. Bordeaux Sr.’s daughter was also in the car but survived. All three children were restrained with child seats and/or seat belts.

According to Trooper CB Capps of the State Highway Patrol, speed was a factor in the accident.

Bordeaux Sr. was sentenced to 94 to 125 months in prison. According to District Attorney Ben David, the case has been closed.
