I&M issues warning of “peak energy event” on Thursday afternoon

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – If you’re worried about how this heat dome will affect your electric bill, you’re not alone.

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) has declared a “peak power disaster” for Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. as temperatures continue to exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The utility has released a list of tips to help customers save on energy costs during the “peak power disaster” and during the hotter months.

“It may not seem like changing an LED lightbulb or fixing a leaky faucet will do much to reduce your energy use or protect the environment, but if every household follows just a few of the tips below, we can significantly reduce our energy consumption,” says I&M’s website.
