First alarm warning: Rain showers will increase again late on Thursday, then become intermittent at times over the weekend

ROCHESTER, NY – The cold front that brought some brief rain Wednesday evening is pushing south overnight.

This will bring our temperatures down to the upper 50s and lower 60s on Thursday, but our forecast leans toward drier conditions. A wave of low pressure is still expected on Thursday, but not until later in the day. This should ensure dry weather into the early afternoon, with the chance of rain increasing later in the afternoon and evening.

Unfortunately, not much has changed in the forecast for the opening day of the Lilac Festival. We continue to expect lots of clouds, cooler air in the 50s and occasional showers. So pack your purple poncho if you’re heading to Highland Park on Friday (or this weekend).

Speaking of the weekend forecast, there will be some showers on both Saturday and Sunday, especially Saturday afternoon and then off and on Sunday. This isn’t the kind of weather that should force you to cancel plans, but it might not be ideal if you’re planning an outdoor lunch for your mom on Mother’s Day.

We will continue to optimize the timing of any rain events over the weekend on News10NBC and online.
