At least two dead and several injured in shooting at Juneteenth celebration in Texas park, officials say

At least two people were killed and several others injured in a shooting at a Juneteenth celebration in a park in Round Rock, Texas, on Saturday night, police said. During the event at Old Settlers Park, an altercation broke out between two groups and “someone pulled out a gun and started shooting,” Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said at a news conference. A large crowd was at the event at the time and “several victims were hit,” the chief said. Officers who were at the event responded and began to render aid, Banks said. As of early Sunday morning, police had not arrested any suspects and it was unclear exactly how many people opened fire, according to the chief. “The investigation is ongoing,” Banks said. The police chief did not provide details on who was injured, but Austin-Travis County EMS previously said the six people, including two children, were taken by EMS to local trauma centers, “all with potentially serious injuries.” “It’s heartbreaking for a family that had come to enjoy the evening and now their lives are forever changed by someone who doesn’t care about other people’s lives, and that’s so disappointing,” Banks said.
